Site Valet Configuration Form

Site Details

Basic details of your site are required.

Base URL

The Base URL defines the scope of Site Valet reporting on your site. All URLs under the base (including the base itself, if applicable) will be spidered. Outside URLs will not.

If you are subscribing a complete domain, the base URL will simply be the top of the domain itself - e.g. http://valet.webthing.com/. If your webspace is a part of a larger domain, then the base will be the top of your area - e.g. http://www.geocities.com/ruritania/12345/.

Note that the base should always end with a slash /.

Base URL:

Start URL

The point at which you wish Site Valet to start spidering your site. Normally this can be any document at your site. In most cases, just using the same as your base URL is a good choice.

Start URL:

Webmaster Address

Email reports will be sent to this address (except as provided for below). This should always be a valid address. If you do not wish to receive reports at this address, select the report format none to suppress them.

Email reporting

Use this to control what email reports Site Valet will send you, and their format. The default format for all email reports is plain text.

External Links Report Format

External links reports are sent to the site webmaster. They list all external links from your site, including the status of the link (i.e. does it work?) and the date tke document linked to was last modified. You can then use the online reports to determine which of your pages has links to each external URL.

Deleted Pages Reports

When you delete a page from your site, Site Valet will find it gone when it next checks. It will then delete the page from its database. Site Valet will periodically compile a list of deleted pages and mail it to the webmaster.
